Ugly Face Mugs!!
My first Ugly Face Mug!!
So why a post about ugly face mugs when Kristen and I are Independent Designers for Chalk Couture? I love talent!! Talent being art, any craft, music, anything. And when people can put their talent out there in the world and that talent can bring a smile to other faces...why not include the "Ugly Faces". Ugly Face Mugs that is!!
I bought my first Ugly Face Mug at an art fair in Minnesota. A gentleman was selling pottery at his booth. In and amongst all the tiles, plates, butter dishes, and veggie strainers were these amazing and beautiful faces looking back at me. Each face looked as though it had a story to tell. Each face sucked you into their little world. Each face was incredible!! The potter asked if he could help me out or if I had any questions. Of course I said, "Yes! What is the story on these amazing mugs?" He told me that back in the day people would store their alcohol in ugly faced mugs and jugs to keep the children from drinking it. Honestly, I think those faces would make me more interested on what was inside the vessel!! Me, I use my ugly face mugs for my coffee. I am not a historian of pottery so I did not know how true that story was. Here is a website I found that explains a little more on the ugly face mugs and jugs on their history.
Now I do not need coffee to start my day. But, there is nothing better then that smooth bold earthy sometimes bitter liquid gloriousness hitting your lips. And instant smile comes not to just your face, but your soul. The coffee can be full caf. or decaf, light roast or dark roast, French or Italian, from a Keurig or Slow Drip, or even instant. I just love coffee!
Drinking coffee from one of my Ugly Face Mugs just makes that day that much better. And it keeps children from drinking my coffee!!
Whatever your talent is, go out there and use it to put a smile on other people's mugs!!
In the meantime, I am off to get some coffee!!
